1. Our Commitment to Child Safety

TechThemYoung is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment for all children, teenagers, and young adults participating in our programs.

Location: TechThemYoung operates in Nigeria. This policy complies with Nigerian laws and regulations regarding child protection and online safety.

3. Zero Tolerance Policy

TechThemYoung maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward:

Any form of child abuse or neglect
Harassment, bullying, or intimidation
Exploitation or grooming behavior
Inappropriate relationships or contact
Violation of child protection boundaries

Immediate Action: Any violation of child safety principles will result in immediate suspension, investigation, and termination of involvement with TechThemYoung. Legal authorities will be notified where appropriate.

4. Code of Conduct for Team Members

All TechThemYoung instructors, mentors, staff, and volunteers must adhere to:

Professional Boundaries

Maintain appropriate adult-child relationships
No private communication outside official channels
No physical contact except where necessary for safety
Never be alone with a child in private settings

Communication Standards

Use only official platforms for communication
All communications should be professional and educational
No personal social media connections with learners
Parents/guardians copied on significant communications

Behavior Expectations

Model respectful and appropriate behavior
Use inclusive and supportive language
Never use demeaning or harsh criticism
Report any concerns immediately

Minimum Age: TechThemYoung accepts learners from age 13. Learners under 13 may be considered with enhanced parental involvement and special arrangements.

For learners under 18, parents/guardians have specific roles:

8. Reporting Concerns or Incidents

Who Can Report

Anyone can report concerns: learners, parents, staff, or third parties. All reports are taken seriously.

What to Report

Report any behavior or situation that raises child safety concerns, no matter how small it may seem.

How to Report

Email immediately to info@techthemyoung.com.ng. Include as much detail as possible while maintaining confidentiality.

Confidentiality

Reports are handled with strict confidentiality. Information is shared only with those who need to know for investigation purposes.

Good Faith Reporting: Anyone reporting concerns in good faith is protected from retaliation, even if the report turns out to be unfounded.

9. Response Procedures

When a concern is reported:

Assessment of immediate safety needs
Temporary suspension if necessary
Preservation of evidence

Investigation

Designated investigator assigned
Fair and thorough investigation
Interviews with relevant parties
Documentation of all findings

Legal Reporting: Where criminal behavior is suspected or confirmed, TechThemYoung will report to appropriate legal authorities in Nigeria.
